Recently I’ve been pushing myself to get out of my neutral comfort zone. My closet over time has become a beautiful rainbow of greys and blacks and when it comes to my makeup routine the usual browns and golds. Today I decided to change it up a bit with the Manny MUA x MakeupGeek palette, not only to add some color into my life but to see what the rave is all about.
I by no means am no makeup artist and my honest review of the palette overall is that this palette is who it’s meant for. The palette does consist of neutrals that everyone can work with but I wouldn’t say that they’re ones we don’t have already have. There are though a few shimmers that can take the makeup amateur by surprise. Figuring out the perfect blend to incorporate the neutrals with the unique shimmer tones can get a little tricky and is do or die if you don’t do it right. I’m usually never intimidated by a makeup palette, especially with my collection build up over the years but hats off to MannyMUA for actually doing something different than the usual Naked Palette essentials we always see. My personal favorite shades? Aphrodite, Mars, and Insomnia.
Overall, this palette was super fun to play with. The shadows are insanely pigmented, more than any other palette I own and I would say for those who can only dare to wear shadows so bold. Definitely will be a go-to for a fun night out but I can’t imagine these colors for an everyday. The foiled finishes surprised me with a sheen unlike any other shadows I’ve ever seen before. I would honestly carry it around just for the bomb mirror it comes with. I swear some palettes can be successful only because of that! The look that I threw together originally started with Insomnia all over the lid but was a bit overpowering for my taste so I ended up patting Luna all over with Frappe and Aphrodite in the crease. With Artemis as a highlight, I’m pretty pleased with how the overall look came out. What do you think?
