Okay guys, it’s about to get real. My biggest insecurity is probably my skin. I’ve always had problems with it from eczema, to redness, and teenage acne. Over time I have developed some unforgivable battle scars and finding a foundation for my face is always a pain. Most of my coworkers are all professional makeup artists and recommended the Kat Von D foundation to me. They showed me their before and afters of what their skin really looks like and it is such a big difference (no offense, ladies you know I love you!) I had to try it!
So here’s my full review of the Kat Von D Tattoo foundation and pros and cons!
As you can see, I suffer from acne scars and redness. No matter what pops up on face it never forgets to always leave something behind 😦 my current favorite foundation hands down is my L’oreal True Match (drugstore) and my Laura Mercier foundation (high end).
Application: The best way I have found to apply the foundation is with my Beauty Blender. It is a very thick foundation and you really have to work it into your skin to blend and cover but a little really does go a long way. You would need no more than 1.5 pumps each time.
Coverage: Coverage is what I look for in a foundation and I think the picture says enough on its own. HOLY CRAP. Now I know why it’s such a rave. This really does cover you up to the point where I’m kinda sad about it. My before and after is a clear image of how far I am from perfect…lol JK! But really though, the coverage is amazing and even though it takes a while to work in and set, it’s worth it if that’s what you’re looking for. I will say that if you build it too much it can easily look cakey but it’s one of those foundations that gets even better throughout the day.
Wearing time: Easily, this foundation will last you all day. Depending on your weather, maybe one touch up with powder, but other than that you’re good. The lady at Sephora told me that this foundation is best for those with oily skin and I would recommend that too. It is a little drying but I spritz with my MAC Fix Plus before and after and it keeps my face hydrated.
So far, so good with this foundation, it has NOT broken me out! I have VERY sensitive skin and Kat Von D has not let me down. Totally worth $34, which is a very low price for high end foundations! 4 stars from me! The only cons I would say is how it’s not very smooth when working in your skin, but for the coverage I’ll do it! Otherwise, the coverage and lasting wear is amazing and it creates the perfect canvas for my face.
Let me know if you guys have tried this before, or of any other fabulous foundations!
